The warriors add experienced Sena Fanai to strengthen their midfield.
“First of all, it is an honour to play for the champions. Also, we are going to play in the AFC Champions League. I have already played in this competition and by the grace of god, I have been given this opportunity to be one of those few players who have played in the Asian Champions league with 2 different teams”
The former Aizawl FC and Chennai City FC player couldn’t wait but express his excitement on signing with the club.
Having played in the AFC Champions league last season with the Mizo-Giants, Sena is very confident about making a mark this time around with Minerva.
“I-League is quite difficult, you know. The Indian players, they’re all equally good. This league is very intense. I’ve been playing in this league for a very long time and I know how challenging it gets and I like challenges.”
The two-footed midfielder was all praise about his new team, “We are the champions. We will be the team to beat. We have a good mix of young and experienced players, great coaching staff and a really passionate owner.”
Sena had been struggling to get some game time in the last few seasons but is motivated to step on the field and be the first name on the team sheet.
“I’ve had a few injuries in the last couple of season and was out for a long time during the season. I always say to myself that it’s a blessing from god that I now have another opportunity to play in the major competitions in the country and the confederation. I couldn’t make it past the first round last time but I will give my best and hopefully we can make a mark at the Asian level.”
We wish Sena an injury free and a glorious season ahead in the Minerva blue.
