Northern powerhouse Minerva Punjab FC host Defending Champions Aizawl FC in a hunt for vital 3 points !

Apollo Minerva Punjab FC host Defending Champions Aizawl FC in the Round 16 of the ongoing Hero I-League scheduled to play at the Tau Devi Lal Stadium, Panchkula on Monday at 2pm.
The visiting Aizawl team find themselves currently in the 6th positions in the 10-team standings leading them to part ways with Portuguese gaffer Paulo Menezes after a disastrous 8 match winless record as well known Mumbai’s Santosh Kashyap was brought in to turn the Red’s fortune in the remaining 5 games. Things didn’t go on well for the Red’s even after, as Shillong Lajong FC defeated them at home and young Indian Arrow’s came from behind to snatch a draw after being down 2-0. However the Reds defeated the young arrows in their reverse fixture with a comfortable 3-0 victory before travelling to Punjab.
The Reds were tipped to sign former Dempo SC Nigerian striker Edeh Chidi to replace fellow countrymen Kareem Nurain who has been ruled out for the rest of the Hero I-League season due to injury.
Gaffer Santosh Kashyap would surely have done his homework well to spoil the home teams winning party on Monday afternoon as he would look forward to maintain his winning streak. Afghanistan Indternational Defender Masih Saighani would play a critical role in the back-line to keep at bay Minerva’s Bhutanese sensation Chencho Gyrltshen and Ghanaian attacking midfielder William Opoko. As Liberian skipper Alfred Jaryan will look to anchor the Red’s midfield and supply best chances to frontman Romanian Andrei Ionescu and Ivorian Leonce Dodoz Zikhai.
Meantime Minerva Punjab FC Gaffer Wangkhem Khogen Singh has a challenge in hand to get back his team on the winning track which has been lost for quite sometime now, the addition of Ivorian midfieler Bazie Armand in the January transfer window has surely added spark in the attack which still misses the final touch. Regional super stars like Nepal’s custodian Kiran Limbu and Bhutanese wizard Chencho Gyrltshen will surely look forward to impress their employers when they take the field in Monday in a hunt for a crutial win which would boost their title hopes and keep them in contention.
